CANNES - Galerie Daniel Guidat

Whilst my friends were going crazy over shoes, I was being dragged out of numerous art galleries that Cannes' rue d"Antibes had to offer.

Galerie Daneil Guidat was one of the best with everything from glass art to bronze work but it was the paintings that really inspired me.

FLOW's "Golfeur" from the dripping collection was a particularly eye catching piece. A dark back ground with bright splats and drips of paint really depicting the movement and energy of the golfer, a really exciting painting.

TIMEO's "Paradise Island" is an incredible mixed media piece made up of junk, papers, jewels and random bits and bobs.. very reminiscent of a lot of my A level work.

I compared the style and composition of Jean-Paul DONADINI's "Jardin Secret et Prive", to my "Rouge" painting featured early in the blog. Differing to my piece the juxtaposition of the harsh rugged material DONADINI is painting on and the delicacy and perfection of the painting itself is fantastic.

Finally Henri DI MATTEO's fantastical graphic paintings were hugely popular. "Concerto dans les Iles" held centre stage, the hot bright colours of the sky and hot-air balloons drawn the eye in for you to then wonder around the painting deciding what is going on in this colourful fictional world.
